Do You Remember | Pastor Samantha Boncy

In this message from the series “Tell Me Who I Am,” Pastor Samantha Boncy reminds us of a powerful truth: your identity is not something you have to prove — it is something God has already declared.
Looking at Jesus’ temptation in Matthew 4, we see how the enemy tried to challenge His identity right after God affirmed, “This is My beloved Son.” Jesus didn’t try to perform or prove Himself. He stood firm in His purpose, position, and power. Because He overcame temptation, we too can live as overcomers.
Through the story of the woman caught in adultery (John 8), we are reminded that our identity is not defined by our past mistakes or the accusations of others. In Christ, sin is replaced with salvation. Jesus did for her what she could not do for herself — and He does the same for us.
Finally, the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15) shows the power of remembering who you are. Even after failure and distance from the Father, the son “came to himself” and realized that his identity as a son had never changed.
Your past does not erase who you are in God.You are not a servant trying to earn acceptance — you are a son or daughter who already belongs.
